About Us

Staff and History:

Mike, after operating fishing businesses in Campbell River in the 80’s, bought the Beachhouse in 1993. Attracted to Kyuquot because of the spectacular scenery, superior fishing and the opportunity to share one of the most beautiful places on earth with others. With their daughters, Isabel and Ava they have been successfully running the lodge offering unparalleled service and hospitality to all those lucky enough to have visited.

Along with their enthusiastic staff, Mike enjoys working with resident guides with over 20+ years of local knowledge and expertise. Jeremy Maynard (head guide) is a wealth of knowledge both in and out of the boat on fisheries, wildlife, salmon enhancement etc.

When not planning, organizing and implementing amazing vacation experiences for their clients Mike, and girls can be found on the soccer field or off on another traveling adventure!

For more than 25 years Mike along with the amazing staff have hosted visitors from countries such as South Africa, Japan, Italy, Costa Rica, New Zealand Belgium to name a few and of course Canadian and US visitors.. We ourselves are adventure travelers seeking out the “Kyuquots” of the world and we look forward to the arrival of each group whether old friends or new guests with equal enthusiasm.

We are passionate about fishing but for those that are looking for more Kyuquot offers it. It is a paradise for kayakers, birdwatchers, beachcombers, surfers and divers as well as fisherman and we can’t wait to share it with the world. We cater to couples, families, friends, and small corporate groups – anyone looking for a true west coast experience. The Bunsby Islands, Brooks Peninsula and Rugged Point Marine Park are all a short boat ride away.

The natural setting, abundant wildlife and world class fishing offer something for everyone. Our flexible schedule allows you the freedom to plan your stay.

A typical day at the Beach House may include a early rise with a steaming mug of coffee with fresh croissants and fruit before heading out for a morning fish. If you choose to spend your day exploring the area by foot or kayak you may run into our resident sea otters or come across a beach perfect for gathering glass fishing floats.

The afternoon is free to hike, kayak or lounge on the waterfront patio with a good book in the sun.

Take a walk along the boardwalk meeting local villagers, tell a fish story or two and get reacquainted with family and friends.

Come and enjoy Kyuquot Beach House and forget it’s only for a few days- the memories will last a lifetime!
